What in hell? - Articulate and not me.

Because she is awesome, Amanda has summed up my disappointment in Obama's handling of the banks very, very well.

back in 2000 and 2001 when everything started going to hell, I said "hey, he's new. He can't be that bad, he'll be able to work it out in the end. He will rise to the occasion, he's the president!"

Do I get to be right this time?

I'm more worried about America

Sure, Obama's a nice guy and all, but I can't wrap my head around the mindset that people are worried about him. He is a part (very large part) of the government machine, and the job is service. I care more about my way of life than whether or not one guy stays in the White House past 4 years. This isn't the first article/blog/post I've read where people seem to be emotionally invested in Obama the man, and it's a bit worrisome. We can't afford to be campaigning now; it's time to govern.

Playing devil's advocate, the reason (aside from just liking the guy) that it's fair to worry about his re-election is that if he isn't re-elected, we get a Republican. It's possible that by 2012 the GOP will find away to return to its not-batshit-crazy roots, but I wouldn't stake my country on it.

Worst-case scenario, I'd rather have someone who is bad at doing good than someone who is good at doing bad*.

* As for Obama, I think right now he's mediocre at doing good, but given his lack of experience and the absolute train wreck he came into, FDR himself would take a year or two to get his bearings.
